Real change is rarely the result of a single action. It builds – through consistent support, trusted relationships, and a commitment to showing up over the long term.
Our work is organised around three pillars: People, Planet, and Youth. Each one reflects a different dimension of the same belief, that sustainable, measurable impact is possible when the right support reaches the right places.
People
Thriving communities don’t happen by accident. They are built by people who care, supported by those who show up consistently.
Through our People pillar, we back community-led initiatives that protect dignity, provide care, and strengthen wellbeing, particularly for vulnerable children and families. This includes feeding schemes, healthcare support, and early childhood development work in marginalised communities across South Africa.
We have supported initiatives including Operation Smile SA, which provides life-changing surgery to children born with cleft conditions, and the Smile Foundation, whose mobile health units bring essential care directly to underserved communities.
“God did not give me a chance for my kids, but today I am glad I am the mother of plus minus 70 kids. Buying food for a year is a good thing. I am looking forward now because you made my dream come true.”

Planet
We cannot separate the health of communities from the health of the environments they depend on.
Our Planet pillar backs work that recognises the natural world as part of the solution, not separate from it. From ocean research initiatives to environmental sustainability projects, we support partners whose work acknowledges that long-term human flourishing and environmental stewardship are inseparable.
This pillar also connects to some of the Trust’s most ambitious moments, including our involvement with the SUP Atlantic crossing, which raised funds for children in need while gathering vital oceanic research data along the way.

“SOH Trust’s support has certainly helped us empower pre-school leaders and build a strong ECD community so that the lives of every child we impact can be changed for the better. Thank you for believing in and enhancing our dream.”
